| I try to make art whenever I can get away with it. I am a general art practitioner and work in a variety of media. Having a background in graphic design, my style is eclectic and varied. I believe that artists don’t have to have only one style, just like people don’t have just one personality trait. I draw, paint, sculpt, photograph, and design. Some of my work is serious, some whimsical, some representational, some not. I enjoy lots of different media and can get engaged with just about anything that I can make into art. The start of my art career began at age two. Drawing on the living room walls and my parents’ furniture, my creative expression was not quite appreciated at that time. Over the years I continued to make art but did not pursue formal art instruction until college. I sat next to a girl in my freshman speech class who was an art major. She kept bringing in her portfolio and her box of art supplies. Finally, the urge to forsake a practical career overtook me and I became an art major. With a double emphasis in drawing & painting and graphic design, I graduated with a BFA from UWSP in 1997. |
